We are looking for an engaging, safety focused Program Lead - Mine Water Management to join the Project Delivery team.

The scope of work you will be accountable for is challenging and diverse. Your demonstrated ability to engage, connect and positively influence key stakeholders at all organizational levels will play a critical part to the effectiveness in this role.

You will be an inspiring role model and coach for positive behaviours, practices and processes, whilst providing leadership, development and support to a team of project professionals responsible for delivering a portfolio of Mine Water Management (dewatering) projects at PMO West or PMO East,

Reporting to the Manager Sustaining Capital, accountabilities of this role include:

  • Co-ordinated management of the Mine Water Management (dewatering) program (PMO West or PMO East/Ports) to achieve its strategic objectives and deliver positive outcomes to the organisation.
  • Common approach to front end planning to improve delivery timeframes and potential cost savings for individual projects.
  • Assist with review and input to key approval documentation (Briefs, Scope of Works, Capital Applications etc.) to ensure compliance with the program charter (standardisation and deliverables).
  • Compile and analyse data to actively manage portfolio and for reporting and metrics.
  • Collaborate and partner with our extensive supporting functions to ensure Dewatering leading practice is implemented and sustained.
  • Supporting and the team in project delivery systems, processes and procedures ensuring that they are embedded across the team, and leverage synergies.
  • A valued partner of our site operation and maintenance teams as you build close partnerships with the internal and external stakeholders to deliver focussed solutions.
  • Upskilling teams so they are accountable for their own processes and procedures and to seek capital efficiency throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Analyse project resourcing levels and recommend resources as appropriate to meet the program
  • Identify program portfolio risks and developing mitigation/recovery strategies - safety, cost, schedule, quality, and procurement
  • Develop the program business case in line with the business strategy for the region

What you’ll bring

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • Full commitment to deliver projects with zero harm
  • Project Management, Engineering or Construction qualification/experience
  • Solid problem solving skills and ability to produce complex, cohesive reports with multiple inputs and ability to manage large budgets
  • Solid stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills
  • Solid experience working within project leadership roles and be confident in effectively leading, mentoring and coaching team members as well as interfacing with senior leaders
  • Program management experience, with the ability to define and implement project improvement initiatives to maximise capital efficiency
  • A current manual WA Driver’s license.

Where you will be working

You will be based at our head office located in Perth Central Park building, working Monday to Friday with site travel required as required. The projects are in the Pilbara Region of Western Australia where Rio Tinto operates.
