Program Manager Decarbonisation – Fixed and Portable Energy Systems

Work Location: Perth - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.

Roster: Monday to Friday

FFI is seeking a Program Manager for the Fortescue Decarbonisation Project. The focus of this role is to develop the business strategy and manage the team responsible for the conversion of difficult-to-abate sectors to green energy.

Working in the Fortescue Decarbonisation Team, this role will focus on developing the strategy for the use of existing or emerging technologies to solve power supply challenges in fixed, mobile and marine sectors. It will focus on value-based solutions and will require working closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure solutions are fit-for-purpose, as well as external OEMs to collaborate on solutions.

Long duration energy storage and non-fossil fuel based thermal energy generation technologies are the major focus in this role, with considerations being grid stability, cost optimisation and value addition.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing the strategy for and leading technology readiness and OEM assessments of emerging technologies
  • Forming strategic Internal and External partnerships to bring value to the Fortescue Decarbonisation program
  • Managing the interface with supply chain, logistics and distribution assessments
  • Leading the development for the strategy to feed into developing Economics and Business Cases including both
  • CAPEX and OPEX estimates
  • Managing engineering solutions to a complex system with multiple stakeholder groups and requirements
  • Managing a Multi-functional team

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Engineering - Chemical Engineering or Electrical Engineering preferred
  • Current recognised chartership preferred
  • Principal Engineer equivalent experience or above
  • 15 + years’ experience in the energy industry with a strong preference for Renewable – specifically innovation and emerging technologies
  • Experience in the Energy sector in a project design, development or operations role highly desirable
  • Experience in both brownfield and greenfield project design
  • Extensive experience in projects from concept development through detailed design
  • Leadership and project management experience
  • Stakeholder and interface management
