ABOUT THE ROLE
The Opportunity - Permanent, Full-Time Position: this role will preferably be based at our office in the heart of the Perth CBD. We understand and value the benefits flexibility brings and operate a hybrid work model (in the office and from home) Minimum requirement to travel to Worsley for site visits fortnightly, as a large component of the team and most key stakeholders are site-based.
Reporting to the Group Manager Studies, your role as Program Manager Studies – Decarbonisation and Water will be responsible for providing direction and support for all major projects pre-feasibility (PFS) studies and feasibility studies (FS) undertaken relating Worsley Refinery focused on Decarbonisation and Water. The key output is to ensure the study objectives and executed as planned.
This position will form part of South32’s Major Projects – Studies team.
The key responsibilities are, but not limited to:
- Support, maintain, and deliver a safe and healthy workplace culture that adheres to South32 procedures and applicable laws, regulations, and standards for the workplace
- Provide inputs into the Worsley Long-Term business planning process (LoOP) capital and operating cost inputs for major mine and infrastructure development work
- Management of the >US$1.5B Worsley Refinery’s Decarbonisation and Water portfolio to ensure the works are planned
- Ensure project risk registers are maintained for all major project mine and infrastructure studies
- Maintain strong and transparent relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including presentation to Worsley Lead Team, Project Steering and Investment Committees with excellent presentation and communication skills
ABOUT YOU
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in the mining/mineral processing/refining industry in complex multi-disciplinary projects and studies
- Strong problem-solving skills, demonstrating objective and critical thinking
- Ability to understand complex and challenging concepts quickly and to break them up into their key components will understanding their link to business imperatives
- Ability to influence and negotiate with diplomacy and manage competing interests
- Well-developed strategic planning, economic analysis, and business evaluation skills
Qualifications for this position are:
- Degree qualified in Metallurgy/Process/ Chemical/ Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- Post-graduate Qualification in business or project management desired.
