We are looking for a Programme Specialist to join the Project Practices & Improvement Team to support delivery of the programme of work that supports our journey towards excellence in development. This role can be offered as full time, part time (80% FTE) or job share for the right candidate/s. This role is a great opportunity for an energetic individual, keen to learn and develop knowledge about RioProjects and one of Rio Tinto’s key strategic pillars..

Reporting to the GM Project Practices & Improvement and working a challenging and exciting environment within the Project Practices & Improvement team, you will be:
- Managing a portfolio of initiatives that sit across the Excel in Development strategy within RioProjects
- Working with project leaders who are the package owners and consultants to develop detailed plans, monitor and track progress
- Managing meetings to be effective and efficient through general meeting coordination including meeting notifications, setting agendas, preparing speakers, coordinating pre-read, recording and following up actions.
- Working with teams to develop material to support Excel in Development updates to various forums including the Projects SLTs, townhalls, and broader D&T and Product Group forums as needed.
What you’ll bring
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Prior experience managing projects or a portfolio of activities is preferred
- Strong communication skills with high degree of comfort to engage with people at various levels in the business
- Organised and able to multi-task and prioritise
- Good PowerPoint and planning skills
- Nice to have – experience in an area relevant to major capital projects and interest in progressing to broader role within the group e.g. engineering, project management, procurement, project controls
