We are looking for a Project Controls Manager to join our Rio Tinto Projects team to lead the project controls functions for the APAC Portfolio of Studies. This role is a great opportunity to lead and motivate the Project Controls team and provide technical advice and support to Study Managers and the broader Project Services team. Reporting to the Manager Project Controls Closure, you will be responsible for:

  • Partnering with Study Lead and Project Manager to deliver the project through study stage gates into execution
  • Leading the owners team project controls personnel embedded within the studies team
  • Managing project controls practices and ensuring compliance with Rio Tinto Projects systems, policies, and procedures
  • Problem solving and providing advice to study managers and general managers regarding all project controls related issues including cost and progress, schedule and change management
  • Preparing and validating study reports, as well as regular auditing of project controls reporting, cost and schedule status
  • Providing input into the development and improvement of project controls procedures and practices to ensure procedures meet or exceed industry current best practice
  • Key support to the Study Manger to lead the study through the stage gate process  

What you will bring

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • Extensive hands-on experience in Project Controls attained within a project environment
  • Extensive hands-on experience in Study environment within an owners organisation
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Thorough understanding of project management and controls concepts

It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • Degree qualification in Engineering or Business/Commerce or similar
  • Previous success in leading a team of Project Controls professionals
  • Project controls experience across multiple project delivery models

You should also be passionate about delivering pragmatic, optimised solutions and have a drive for results and appetite for constructive challenge.
