Project Cost Controller - Manufacturing

Work location: Perth, WA

Roster: Monday to Friday

Key responsibilities:

  • Implement the cost management system, processes and procedures to ensure a consistent approach to project cost control, budget tracking, forecasting, cashflow and performance analysis
  • Management of the cost and progress reporting process in order to provide consistent, accurate and timely reporting to the project management team including identification of any required actions to maintain approved baseline targets
  • Setup purchase orders & contracts in cost system and SAP
  • Review and verify invoices, estimating accruals before End of Month and allocating expenses to cost centres and WBSs
  • Forecast cost to complete and highlight areas of risk to mitigate cost overruns against baseline plan and budget
  • Preparing Monthly and other reports and attending monthly package reviews
  • Collect cost and progress information from both internal and external parties to report on earned value, forecast cost to complete (FTC) and forecast final cost (FFC)
  • Ability to transpose earned value metrics into tabular S-curve charts, highlighting budget, earned, forecast FTC and FFC
  • Work closely with Project Managers to implement the EVM process of cost account status reporting, accruals, schedule status and forecasting, provision of progress and variance analysis reporting
  • Ability to monitor and audit cost management system and SAP to ensure accuracy between the two systems and advise management of any significant variances
  • Create and manage documentation and reports for projects
  • Verify data and information and analyse it to suit the direction of a project
  • Track, forecast and report on project progress including metrics and challenges
  • Collect the necessary information required to analyse projects
  • Contributing to project planning, budgeting, and overall strategy
  • Conducting and presenting a feasibility analysis for proposed projects
  • Analyzing project data and producing insights to optimize performance
  • Identifying problems and shortfalls and proposing solutions
  • Maintaining project contracts and financials

Qualifications and skills preferred:

  • Degree in business, finance, administration, or a related field preferred
  • Prior experience preferably in the commercial or industrial construction sector or similar complex environment
  • Enjoy working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment in collaboration with other like-minded team members and adjacent project teams (also delivering a variation of the system)
  • Have a strong project cost management background
  • Proven experience and understanding of program management
  • Sound understanding of project cost control processes and techniques including methods for transitioning from study estimate to project budget, project cost and cash flow forecasting and analysis
  • Experience with procurement and purchasing systems including Purchase requisitions, Purchase Orders
  • Demonstrated proficiency and knowledge regarding project cost control systems, finance systems and reporting applications, their database management and administration
  • Experience with SAP
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.  MS Project ability preferred.
  • Fluent spoken and written English language skills
  • Strong computer literacy skills
