Project Director
Work location: Houston, or Phoenix
Roster: Monday to Friday
This position is responsible for the development of the FFI North America green energy project portfolio through management of multiple onsite project managers in the delivery stage.
This role will drive and support the strategic direction, as well as creating and managing long term goals, develop and monitor budgets, personnel and operating plans, programs and writing program funding proposals in conjunction with the Owners team
Key responsibilities:
- Delivery of highly complex, mega-projects in excess of US$1 billion.
- Providing strategic leadership (health & safety, technical, operational, financial, and managerial) for successful implementation of project activities and the protection and enhancement of project business cases.
- Ensures the right strategic planning and project management is in place in order to meet organizational goals.
- Provides overall strategic governance and compliance for in scope projects by through the enablement of Company systems, tools and processes used for effective project delivery.
- Ensures that the program is technically sound and consistent with funder and stakeholders’ priorities.
- Through regular reviews, ensures the project produces the specified results in the annual workplan(s) to the required standard regarding quality, timeline and budget parameters.
- Oversees budget pipeline development and budget monitoring for in scope projects.
- Conducts reviews as required by management to ensure accountability of all project activities as well as the accurate and timely reporting of financial deliverables and obligations.
- Manage the key relationships with Federal and Provincial Government bodies associated with the successful delivery of projects.
- Ensure all FFI Infrastructure adheres to all Government regulations and procedures relating to maintaining our business licenses.
- Suggest and implement innovative ideas throughout the project lifecycle, across all disciplines to improve the level of service and highlighting Fortescue as the employee of choice.
- Engagement and collaboration with the North American leadership and the Company Owners team.
Qualifications and skills required:
- Bachelors degree in a relevant field from an accredited university with significant experience in a leadership position managing similar programs.
- Project delivery of highly complex, mega-projects in excess of US$1 Billion, in either Renewables, Mining, Petrochemical, LNG or Pharmaceutical industries.
- Experience working as Company Representative / comfortable operating with an Owners team organization.
- Demonstrated diplomatic, management, and communication skills to liaise and advocate with governments and other key stakeholders, both internal and external.
- Proven ability to write technical reports and deliver presentations.
