Project Engineer
Work Location: Perth. Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Monday to Friday with requirement for frequent site travel.
Role overview:
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Project Engineer performs the role of ensuring that the Perth and Site Management Teams and Contractors are technically supported to deliver projects safely, efficiently and to high standards that meet our stakeholder’s expectations and requirements.
The Project Engineer must be highly experienced in the technical aspects of construction with an in-depth knowledge of current construction practices on mine sites and work collaboratively to build great relationships with our stakeholders.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Providing technical support to assist project teams, multiple contracting companies and projects on site to ensure projects are delivered safely, assisting to achieve scope, schedule and budget requirements.
- Managing technical aspects during project development stages including studies and design
- Liaising with Area Managers, Superintendents, Supervisors, Project Managers, Contractors, and Stakeholders on all relevant matters.
- Attending Project Planning, Risk Assessments and Kick off Meetings. Facilitating Weekly Team Meetings, including participation in Critical Control Monitoring, Live Infrastructure Assessments and Team based Risk Assessments for all projects.
- Ensure Commissioning Plans are prepared and approved. Ensure BMS obligations are met.
- Ensure Technical Query (TQ) management and Non- Conformance Management (NCR) are adhered to across all projects.
- Ensure Project Close out (MDR)- is completed for all projects.
- Ensure Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) management is adhered to across all projects.
- Ensure Handovers for infrastructure are prepared for relevant Stakeholder and executed after commissioning is completed.
Qualifications and skills required:
- Experience managing a multi discipline team within the Resources sector.
- Proven ability to supervise a number of concurrent projects to completion within schedule and quality standards with focus on SMP competencies
- Competent understanding of Business Management Systems
- Strong commitment to health and safety, with exemplary behaviour with regards to safety leadership.
- Strong leadership skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated commitment to Fortescue Values.
