Project Engineer

Work Location: Balcatta

Roster: Monday to Friday

This is an exciting opportunity to get in at the ground level of a rapidly expanding, dynamic, global green energy business. Fortescue Future Industries is currently undertaking a rapid expansion and are seeking applications for a Project Engineer to join our Research and Development team. Based out of our new Balcatta R&D facility, we are looking for a Project Engineer to join the Research and Development team to develop process designs for green steel production, supporting implementation from pilot through to commercial scale. Candidates must be able to bring a flexible mindset, challenge traditional thinking, and be prepared to work outside of their comfort zone.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Ensuring all works are completed safely and adhere to FFI Vision and Values
  • Prioritizing and delivering work in a fast-moving environment
  • Proactively deliver on the company's stretch targets
  • Developing pilot and demonstration rigs within the green steel project scope
  • Work proactively with engineering team members and external vendors to deliver the project deliverables
  • Resolution of technical and design issues
  • Work with contractors involved in fabrication, assembly, testing and commissioning of green steel systems.

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent
  • Project Management qualifications or training advantageous
  • Minimum 7 years industrial/professional experience
  • Ability to manage across multiple disciplines, including; piping, processing, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and NPI
  • Demonstrated technical, project management skills in multi-disciplinary projects
  • Demonstrated experience across various industries and resources sectors
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills
  • Familiarity with processes including cominution, leaching, separation processes will be highly regarded
  • Enthusiastic in creating new and unique ideas and strategies
  • Strong analytical abilities and proactive thinking to solve complex problems
  • Proven abilities in formulating and successfully delivering strategies to drive value-add
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a dynamic team
  • Clear and concise communicator
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills in building rapport and maintaining stakeholder relationships
