About the role:
We are looking for a Project Engineering Principal Advisor to join the APAC Projects delivery team with responsibility to provide guidance and support to a range of capital development projects and studies in the APAC Region.
The primary focus of this role is to guide, support and monitor the delivery of Engineering in Projects and Studies in the APAC portfolio.
The role will enhance project engineering delivery during all phases of a project life cycle by:
- Monitoring and managing engineering delivery by Engineering Service Providers (ESPs) and facilitating interaction between owner’s groups, the ESP and other key stakeholders.
- Deliver and report in a standardised manner across projects, which will aid monitoring and review during project execution.
Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, APAC Portfolio and working in a collaborative and exciting environment within our global organisation, you will:
- Build relationships with internal stakeholders to deeply understand their business priorities, scope initiatives and documented business requirements
- Provide the project/study with engineering leadership and expertise across disciplines and act as a reference point for technical decisions.
- Contribute to the development of and ensure that engineering set-up, execution and reporting meets RT requirements and compliance with engineering management plans for projects to ensure a high-quality output.
- Be familiar with trends in engineering technology, systems, and processes to maintain a consistent ‘fit for purpose’ approach across projects and studies
- Ensure HSECiD and hazard management are adequately considered to meet RT requirements.
- Ensure Lean in Construction practices have been developed and applied.
- Provide technical input into engineering reviews
- Build a culture where success is celebrated, ideas are shared, and continuous improvement aligned to business priorities is an ongoing focus.
What you’ll bring
The role will deliver value to Rio Tinto by providing more detailed and improved oversight of the Engineering aspects of projects and studies and assist with the application of consistent Engineering Management and reporting across Projects and Studies. As such you will have:
- Experience monitoring ESP progress, ensuring Engineering assurance and deliverable quality are adequately delivered
- A drive to enable collaboration with other business units and industry to maintain knowledge of best practice methods.
- Expertise in Engineering execution and/or studies relating to process plants facilities and associated infrastructure.
- Engineering multi-discipline knowledge and understanding
- Experience working with ESP’s in EPCM and/or EPC contracting models
- Understanding of the mining and metals industry
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or similar, or high levels of industry experience
