Job Tasks and Responsibilities

We are looking for a Geologist to join a highly skilled team of geoscientists. As part of the team, you will assist in providing services to all Yancoal’s assets, including exploration management, modelling, tenement reporting, resource estimation in accordance with the JORC Code and special projects.

Reporting to the Exploration Superintendent, key responsibilities of the role will include:

• Work on site with Senior Project Geologists and a team of exploration contractors to deliver critical data for mines and projects.
• Assist the Principal Geologist with the preparation of annual tenement reports.
• Be a part of team of mining professionals to develop and execute life of asset resource knowledge plans to deliver data for reducing geological uncertainty in mines and projects.
• Collate key exploration data, ensure practical validation and storage management of data.  

Skills and Experience

• Tertiary qualifications in Geology.
• Previous experience in the provision of geological applications within an open cut and/or underground mining environment.
• Prior use of geological software packages is desirable.
• Previous experience in coal exploration.
