Title: Projects Health and Safety Advisor – Green Fleet Development

Work location: Perth

Roster: 5:2 Roster

Term: 12 Month Fixed Term or Secondment

In support of Fortescue’s strong focus on green energy and our carbon neutrality targets, one of our key initiatives will be in our Green Fleet projects whereby we will develop and test a range of technologies to power our mining fleet

Based at our new Hazelmere R&D facility, we are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Projects Health and Safety Advisor.

Key accountabilities will include but not limited to:

  • Lead the development of Health and Safety Systems and processes including implementation, review, improvement and eventual integration into FMGL operations.
  • Support the implementation of Corporate H&S programs and initiatives
  • Facilitate and support incident investigations with the view to learn and improve.
  • Conduct quality review activities of information recorded in Fortescue’s Incident Management System (IMS)
  • Conduct relevant facility safety audits – including Major Hazards reviews and the ongoing management of hazardous materials and Dangerous Goods
  • Conduct contractor H&S Audit activities
  • Assist with implementation of Occupational Health and Hygiene programs and ongoing monitoring.
  • Assists line managers and supervisors in understanding obligations, liability and how to fulfil their roles, according to local Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) law and FMG / FFI policy, instructions, and standards
  • Assist line leaders with safety risk assessments to ensure all processes are implemented
  • Engaging with both internal and external stakeholders in all HSE related matters
  • Ensure appropriate safety equipment and tools are available and being used
  • Providing advice and support for site related safety and training requirements including Emergency Response.
  • Provide safety leadership including conducting and coaching Field Leadership activities and critical control verifications

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Relevant Health and Safety qualifications
  • 5+ years Safety Management experience
  • Demonstrate a strong passion for safety
  • Experience with creation and implementation of safety systems
  • Electrical / process safety experience highly advantageous
  • Formal training in Risk Management
  • Formal training in incident investigation e.g. ICAM
  • Safety auditing qualification (Lead Auditor)
  • Experience in procedural safety development
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve
  • Intermediate MS Office skills
