Roster: 8D/6R - FIFO ex Perth
We have several Project Hydrogeologist opportunities across multiple sites in the Pilbara.
The Project Hydrogeologist provides technical and operational leadership to a site-based team of Hydrogeologists and Field Technicians, coordinating water well drilling, test pumping and hydrogeological investigation programs.
You’ll make day-to-day technical decisions and oversee project delivery on site, with support and guidance from a Senior Hydrogeologist. You’ll also lead and develop the site Hydro team, maintain high technical standards, and take ownership of the safe and effective delivery of field programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical and operational leadership to site Hydrogeologists and Field Technicians, supporting their development and providing field guidance.
- Coordinate drilling, test pumping and hydrogeological investigations across multiple work fronts.
- Oversee bore design, construction, testing and contractor activities, adapting plans to field conditions.
- Interpret field data and make timely technical decisions, consulting the Senior Hydrogeologist as required.
- Lead short-term planning and keep the Senior Hydrogeologist informed of progress, risks, resourcing and schedules.
- Maintain high standards of safety, data quality, QA/QC, data management and reporting.
- Identify risks, resolve operational issues and communicate progress and outcomes to stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Geology, Engineering Geology or Geoscience; postgraduate Hydrogeology qualification desirable.
- Strong applied hydrogeological knowledge and field experience, with preferably at least three years experience working as a hydrogeologist on groundwater projects.
- Demonstrated experience in water well drilling, bore design and construction, bore development and hydraulic testing.
- Experience in mine water management and water well drilling within an open-pit mining environment.
- Ability to interpret geological, drilling and hydrogeological information and make sound technical decisions in the field.
- Experience leading or coordinating Hydrogeologists, Field Technicians and contractors.
- Ability to mentor and develop less-experienced team members.
- Experience in hydrogeological monitoring, data interpretation and technical reporting.
- Experience with LUC and POW processes.
- Competency with relevant hydrogeological software and data management systems.
- Strong stakeholder, contractor, communication and time-management skills.
