We are looking for an experienced Project Management Office Lead to drive project delivery and excellence. We are looking for someone who is energetic, passionate, curious, with a ‘can do’ attitude. The successful candidate will join an established projects and services team tasked with the ongoing management and delivery of a varying portfolio of projects including those delivering cutting edge autonomous solutions, dynamic digital solutions, global major hazards management improvements, and various programs as we work towards our ambitious net zero emissions targets.

This role is a great opportunity to be involved in the delivery of these truly innovative projects and progressing project excellence in Rio Tinto. This role will be based in Perth, Australia, and will initially support an exciting program of work delivering digital support for the wider business.

Reporting to the Manager Technical Projects Services, you will:

• Develop and implement Program Management Office structures with;
  • Standard program communication and reporting processes
  • Timely access to credible project data for reporting
• Develop and implement Governance models including;
  • Decision rights and process (for example - SteerCo)
  • Stakeholder identification and management
  • Stage gates and processes
  • Prioritisation process
• Define and implement change and communications plans as well as Project Controls methodologies – scheduling, budget, resourcing, Issues / risks / opportunities, document management
• Manage program interdependencies, constraints and the use of shared resources
• Support project managers with coaching and capability uplift (processes and templates)
• Ensure any work outputs consider existing Rio Tinto systems and additional systems in compliance with, and aligning to, Rio Tinto’s Safety Standards and initiatives

About you

To be considered for this role, you will have the following technical skills and experience:

• Recognised project management qualification/s
• Commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
• A number of years experience in similar PMO Lead role or similar, an experienced SME and implementer
• Demonstrated experience in supporting the management of IT / ICT / Technology programs and projects
• Experience with SAP, Momentum, MS word, MS teams, Excel, Project
• Strong stakeholder management skills, and experience with cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Proactive with ability to multi-task and prioritise work
• Strong time management & organisation skills
• Positive attitude and growth mindset

Where you will be working

This role is based in Perth, at our head office, and working Monday to Friday.

The group operates through the entire life cycle of Rio Tinto’s mines and assets, creating value through exploration, project development and technical excellence. Working in close partnership with all product groups, it focuses on finding safer, smarter, and more efficient ways to manage resources and operations.
