The Opportunity:
Barminco Ltd is currently seeking suitably skilled and experienced Underground Mining Project Managers to join our site based operations, working a fly in / fly out, 8 days on and 6 days off roster.
Reporting directly to the Operation Managers, the Project Manager is responsible for ensuring the safety and productivity of site personnel and maximising the utilisation of equipment and manpower to its optimum level, so as to exceed the standards and expectations of our clients. The position comes with high responsibility as it has total control over the entire business unit on site.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Keep the Operations Manager informed and involved in all relevant matters that may have significant effect on the profitability, reputation and public profile of Barminco
- Build a high performing, commercial and customer focused culture
- Ensure a safe workplace for all employees, contractors and visitors by maintaining compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations, policies & procedures.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure mining physicals are achieved as per contract/client schedules.
- Conduct regular analyses of costs and create and implement initiatives to reduce costs, to improve the profitability of the contract.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legal obligations, including current legislation associated with mine safety, employment, occupational health and safety, licensing, etc.
- Provide effective people management, including demonstration of leadership, understanding of the current employment legislation and ensuring adequate training, with the aim of improving retention, reducing turnover and maintaining an appropriately skilled workforce.
- Management of site based functions, such as Maintenance, Mining Engineering, Diamond Drill, as well as any other services undertaken in the contract. This includes, overseeing construction, adjustment of schedules, mining equipment, machinery and consumables.
- Financial management according to the contract and service agreement with our clients, including submission of progress claims and variations as required.
- Contribute to the ongoing success of the organisation by working effectively with other managers and staff in meeting agreed objectives.
- Utilise in-house functional advisors and resources, to assist in maximising site profitability.
Skills, Experience & Attributes:
- Extensive experience in a similar position within Underground Mining, preferably for a large Contractor
- Degree qualified desired but not essential
- Undergound Mining background or background of Mine Engineering
- Have your Underground Supervisors Certificate of Competency or First-Class Mine Mangers Certificate of Competency
- Significant experience managing and executing Mining Contracts
- Be client focused with regard to commercial, technical and service delivery
- Demonstrated ability to analyse commercial information
- Dependably exercise sound judgement and decisions
- The ability to influence and engage with key internal and external stakeholders
- Strong observation and analytical skills, along with a keen attention to detail
