We are currently seeking a suitably experienced Project Manager to join our growing team at our Dalgaranga site on a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off roster. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the purpose of the role is to ensure the safety and productivity of site personnel and maximise the utilisation of equipment and manpower to an industry accepted standard, or greater. This position has total control over the entire business unit on site.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Overall project performance including safety [leading and lagging measures], quality and business performance against the original tender assumptions and budget.
• Develop and maintain a positive safety, quality, and performance culture on the project consistent with the purpose, ambition, and core principles of Barminco.
• Provide clear leadership and standards across the project through visual leadership behaviours, clear communication to site leaders and work teams.
• Ensure that required capability, processes and strong support are in place to enable completion of high-quality incident investigations, to identify and prevent recurrence of incidents and improve safety leadership and culture on the mine site.
• Provide direction and leadership to the site leadership team including the alternate project manager, foremen, maintenance, HSET and supply leaders (or any combination of roles in the leadership team for the project).
• Utilise Barminco management systems and tools to monitor and manage performance measures to ensure that project performance meets or exceeds expectations of the client and Barminco as determined in the tender/budget.
• Identify, develop, implement, and monitor action plans to ensure that expectations and performance measures are met or exceeded in cases where performance variance occurs.
• Identify and escalate issues to Barminco senior leadership where they cannot be effectively managed at site or where further support is required.
• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of Barminco management systems in line with our ambition to become the world’s leading underground hard rock mining service provider.
• Management of site-based functions, such as Maintenance, Mining Engineering, Diamond Drill, Crushing & Screening, as well as any other services undertaken in the contract. This includes, overseeing construction, adjustment of schedules, mining equipment, machinery and consumables.
• Financial management according to the contract and service agreement with our clients, including submission of progress claims and variations as required.
• Contribute to the ongoing success of the organisation by working effectively with other managers and staff in meeting agreed objectives.
• Utilise in-house functional advisors and resources, to assist in maximising site profitability.
Key Requirements:
• A minimum of at least 10 years Underground Mining experience.
• Significant experience managing and executing Mining Contracts.
• Strong client focus with regard to commercial, technical and service delivery.
• Demonstrated ability to analyse commercial information.
• Significant exposure to multiple operations in a mining organisation.
• Demonstrated high level knowledge of all relevant regulatory requirements associated with mining operations.
• Demonstrated high level knowledge of mining operations and EHS.
• Demonstrated knowledge of risk and safety management systems and processes associated with mining operations.
• Underground Supervisors Certificate of Competency or First Class Mine Mangers Certificate of Competency.
• Senior First Aid Certificate (desirable).
• Current and Valid Manual Australian Drivers Licence (C- Class minimum).
