We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to drive project delivery and excellence. We are looking for someone who is energetic, passionate, curious, with a ‘can do’ attitude. The successful candidate will join an established projects and services team tasked with the ongoing management and delivery of a varying portfolio of projects including those delivering cutting edge autonomous solutions, dynamic digital solutions, global major hazards management improvements, and various programs as we work towards our ambitious net zero emissions targets.
This role is a great opportunity to be involved in the delivery of these truly innovative projects and progressing project excellence in Rio Tinto. The purpose of the broader team is to manage and deliver step change projects that will provide Rio Tinto with points of differentiation and strategic competitive advantage. The broader group operates in a matrix structure, providing the opportunity to integrate and accelerate success across a suite of outcomes. This role will be based in Perth, Australia, and will initially support an exciting program of work delivering digital support for the wider business.
Reporting to the Manager Technical Projects Services, you will / be an:
- Experienced Project Manager with recognised Project Management qualification/s,
- Have experience in surface mining and/or digital, and/or technology development projects
- High level of knowledge and experience with various project management methodologies as well as the delivery communications and documents relating to Project Scope, Project Schedules, Project Management Plans, Project Execution Plan and success criteria
- Develop and manage project budget, including cost estimations, work breakdown structures and procurement activities
- Analyse, document and monitor project risk and proactively address as required
- Manage scope, resourcing, task coordination and prioritisation
- Monitor and report on milestones, deliverables, budget and schedule
- Organise, Coordinate and motivate project team members
- Manage stakeholder relationships, internal and external
About you
To be considered for this role, you will have the following technical skills and experience:
- Commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Recognised project management qualification/s and a number of years experience in similar Project Management role
- Demonstrated experience in supporting the management of physical autonomy development and deployment, IT projects, technology projects or similar.
- Experience with tools and methodologies such as SAP, Momentum, MS word, MS teams, Excel, Project, Sharepoint, Scheduling Software, Waterfall and Agile Methodologies
- Strong stakeholder management skills, and experience with cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams
- Strong communication and collaboration with ability to multi-task and prioritise work
- Strong time management & organisation skills
- Positive attitude and growth mindset

Where you will be working
This role is based in Perth, at our head office, and working Monday to Friday.
The group operates through the entire life cycle of Rio Tinto’s mines and assets, creating value through exploration, project development and technical excellence. Working in close partnership with all product groups, it focuses on finding safer, smarter, and more efficient ways to manage resources and operations.
