Fortescue’s Hedland Operations are located on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people.
Roster:
4/3 – FIFO ex Perth OR Residential Port Hedland. Monday to Friday Perth based initially with regular travel to site.
As a Project Manager at Fortescue, you will play a vital role in leading and managing the transformation of our locomotive fleet within our organization with a particular emphasis on the decarbonisation of our operations. You will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and successful execution of locomotive fleet and operations transformation projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the specified quality standards. This role requires strong project management skills, technical expertise in locomotive systems, and effective communication and leadership abilities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Project Planning and Execution:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and budgets.
- Ensure adherence to project schedules and proactively identify and address any potential risks or issues.
- Monitor project progress, track milestones, and report on key metrics to relevant stakeholders.
- Manage project resources effectively to optimize productivity and ensure project success.
- Stakeholder Management:
- Engage and communicate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, procurement, and external vendors.
- Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
- Conduct regular project meetings, provide updates, and address concerns or issues raised by stakeholders.
- Act as the primary point of contact for project-related queries, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
- Technical Expertise:
- Possess in-depth knowledge of locomotive systems, components, and relevant technologies.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure that locomotive projects are technically feasible and compliant with industry standards.
- Review and evaluate technical specifications, drawings, and documentation related to locomotive systems.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance project outcomes.
- Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Apply quality standards and ensure that projects adhere to applicable regulations, standards, and safety requirements.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to verify compliance with project specifications.
- Monitor and control project costs, making sure they stay within approved budgets.
- Implement appropriate measures to mitigate risks and ensure a safe working environment.
- Leadership and Team Development:
- Provide effective leadership to project teams, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented work culture.
- Prioritise tasks, provide guidance, and motivate team members to achieve project objectives.
- Provide direction and influence to team members within project support and direct roles .
- Promote a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing within the project team.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, project management, or a related field.
- Proven experience (10+ years) in project management, preferably in locomotive projects or the railway industry.
- Strong technical knowledge of locomotive systems, components, and related technologies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software.
- Understanding of safety regulations, quality control, and risk management practices.
