Project Mine Geologist
Work Location: Cloudbreak -Fortescue’s Cloudbreak mine is located on the traditional lands of the Palyku and Nyiyaparli peoples.
Roster: 8D/6R FIFO ex. Perth
We are currently seeking a highly motivated Project Mine Geologist to join the Operations Planning team at Cloudbreak on an 8/6 roster.
This permanent position is reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist, the focus of the role will be to ensure all mine geology functions are carried out to a high standard whilst also providing leadership coverage when required. A highly competitive remuneration package is available.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage day-to-day mine geology functions to ensure consistency and quality. Drive mining hygiene focus items on a daily basis
- Mentoring of mine geologists in best practice & consistency
- Provide continuous forward motion on all high priority projects; dictated by senior mine geologist
- Fill in for mine geologist absences and workload as required and act for the senior mine geologist as required
- Support senior mine geologist in meeting company objectives
- Display safe behaviours and safety leadership
- Ensure compliance to the FMG standards and statutory obligations
Qualification and Experience:
- Tertiary qualification in Geology/Geoscience
- Minimum 6 years industry experience; 3 years in a mine geology role
- Previous experience as a geologist within Iron Ore is desirable
- Demonstrated exposure to continuous improvement processes/projects
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
- Fundamental mine geology and reconciliation knowledge
- Solid knowledge of Vulcan, Anvil, Delta
- SQL/Snowflake, data management and database experience is highly desirable
- Current WA C-Class manual driver’s licence
