Project Planner/Scheduler – Energy Operations

Work Location: Perth. Fortescue Centre & Bennett Street - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

Roster: Monday to Friday with occasional site visits

The Project Planner is responsible for the effective development, management, and reporting across the energy operations project portfolio. This position reports directly to the Energy Operations Planning Superintendent and works closely with the Major projects team.  The energy operation team manage multiple generation and transmission assets across the WA Pilbara operations

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Ensuring that all project activities are carried out in compliance with relevant legislation and requirements and to achieve Energy Operations maintenance strategy
  • Plan and schedule approved project work orders and tasks, to ensure zero harm, and utilise equipment and resources to produce effective project schedules based on the Energy Operations maintenance strategy and budget
  • Liaise with maintenance teams and contractors to ensure the efficient usage of available resources and equipment
  • Review project performance and develop action plans to achieve improvement
  • Review and maintain the maintenance management system (SAP) to ensure that data collection and validation supports project reporting requirements
  • Minimise costs through efficient planning of labour, resources, and service. 

Qualifications and skills required: 

  • Electrical or Mechanical trade qualification preferred
  • Significant experience in a maintenance capacity, plus at least 2 years in a planning role (preferably planning shutdowns/projects)
  • Strong understanding of both production and maintenance strategies for large-scale, power stations
  • Proven commitment to safety and zero harm
  • Ability to work with others to achieve objectives, team oriented, good verbal, written and computer skills
  • Sound problem solving and analytical skills and good planning and organisational skills
  • Knowledge and experience in computer maintenance management systems, e.g. SAP. Knowledge of P6
