The Role
The Project Controls Lead will manage the Projects Control function across the Aeris Growth Capital pipeline and other functional, departmental support, ensuring consistency of Project Controls discipline. The role’s focus will be on ensuring nominated works are planned and executed Safely, to target Schedule and Cost, meeting Quality expectations and within Regulatory timeframes and commitments.
This role will see you responsible for Cost Management / Control, Schedule Management / Control and reporting focus, along with CER funding management and ensuring the required Project Controls Governance is exercised and applied in line with Aeris Projects processes and procedures.
Working closely with the General Manager Projects and key Project Leadership stakeholders, implementing, embedding and sustaining the Projects Controls Framework across Aeris’ Growth Capital portfolio; ensuring each Project is developed and executed with appropriate levels of Project Controls Governance.

We’ve had a big couple of years! In FY2021 Aeris Resources acquired Cracow Gold Mine in QLD and enjoyed exploration success at our exciting Constellation deposit at Tritton Copper Operations in NSW in FY2022.
In FY2023 Aeris completed its acquisition of Round Oak Minerals adding two additional producing mines to our portfolio, Jaguar in WA and Mt Colin in Qld, and the Stockman project. In future we expect to grow again.
This growth positions Aeris as Australia’s next mid-tier base and precious metals producer. Aeris will produce more than 60ktpa copper equivalent, roughly doubling our operating footprint.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- WBS-based Project Controls setup reflective in Schedule and Cost baselines
- Establish, manage and control approved Projects Schedule baseline and Performance-based Reporting across the Portfolio and is subjected to the required Change Management
- Establish, manage and control approved Project Cost Budget/baseline and Performance-based Reporting from setup in ERP system (by WBS)(once CER is approved), across the Portfolio and is subjected to the required Change Management
- Provide timely input and accurate data for EOM Monthly Project Reports specific to Schedule, Cost and Change Management performance
- Collate and report accurate monthly Cost Performance data through Aeris Commercial team as per Monthly Reporting requirements (Timesheet recons, receipting, Accruals, Expenditure F/C, escalation)
- Provide daily Project Controls functional guidance and support for Project Engineers and Construction Leadership team incl. Performance Deviations, field Progress updates)
- Work closely with the General Manager Projects to ensure Capital Budget planning process requirements meet business target dates and provide Capital Budget forecasts in a timely manner.
- Work closely with Contract Administration and Group Procurement stakeholders to ensure SOW’s, key Tender documents and each Contract is specific, current and clear in regard to Project Controls and reporting requirements.
- Work closely with QA/QC specialist to uphold required Project Controls functional QA/QC standards, practices and processes, are clearly reflected in Projects documentation and take corrective action as appropriate.
- Coach internal and external stakeholders on best practice Projects Control systems, processes, procedures, practices and templates, including knowledge sharing, providing updates and raising issues in a timely manner.
- Responsible for Project Close-out requirements to reflect Performance, Lessons Learned and Improvements for future Projects (Project Controls function); document key outcomes in Lessons Learned Register.
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or equivalent. Project Management qualifications are preferred.
- Significant experience across Resources and / or Heavy industries, with demonstrated positions in Projects Controls Lead or Manager capacity.
- Extensive experience in planning and delivery of a multi-disciplined Major or Sustaining Capital projects.
- Experience with multi-faceted Work Packages structures, Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), significant Design, Regulatory-constraint interfaces within a green-fields and brown-fields setting involving multi-faceted OEM equipment supplies.
- High degree of Project Controls discipline / SME knowledge, with ability to tailor to an Aeris ‘fit for purpose’ level.
- Sound knowledge of / ability to produce risk-based Project Control tools (e.g. Master Schedules and Cost Estimates), using top-down/bottom-up, parametric and other renown estimating techniques, including preparation of Basis of Schedules and Estimates.
- Experience with Qualitative and Quantitative Risk Analysis (P6-Risk, Monte Carlo).
- Competency with Scheduling (MS Project, Primavera P6) and Excel-based Estimating tools with look-up tables, Resource-loading etc.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite, SharePoint and MS Teams; basic User knowledge of Pronto (ERP) or equivalent
- Problem-solving, structured and systematic approach with enthusiasm, commitment and self-direction.
- Current ‘C’ Class drivers licence
