Vault Minerals is looking for an experienced Underground Pump Fitter to join our Deflector team.

Deflector Site Overview
Deflector Operation consists of two high-grade, narrow vein Gold/Copper mines, located 160km east of Geraldton. The ore is contained in a series of structurally complex lodes, namely the Deflector and Deflector South West deposits.

The purpose of the Underground Pump Fitter position is to ensure the continuous, safe, and efficient operation of all underground pumping, dewatering, and water management infrastructure across Vault Minerals mine sites. This mechanical role covers planned preventative maintenance, diagnostic fault-finding, repairs and replacement on high-pressure water management systems in the underground mine, while additionally managing the routine servicing, tuning, and field maintenance of pneumatic air leg rock drills and associated equipment used in the underground environment.
Key responsibilities of this role will include:
- Perform planned preventative maintenance, overhaul, and rebuilds on high-pressure multistage, submersible, and mono pumping systems.
- Diagnose mechanical faults underground using specialized toolsets, test equipment, and pump curve analyses.
- Service, overhaul, and tune pneumatic hand-held air leg machines (e.g., rock drills, jackhammers, and air-driven feeds) to OEM specifications.
- Troubleshoot and rectify air leg mechanical issues underground, including piston failures, rotation issues, valuation faults, and water tube blockages.
- Test and maintain underground pneumatic distribution networks, line lubricators, and water separator assets.
- Execute precision shaft and motor alignments utilizing laser alignment tools to minimize vibration and premature component wear.
- Instal, modify, and commission underground pumping stations, manifolds, valves, and associated dewatering pipework pipelines.
- Rebuild pump wet ends, power ends, and mechanical seals within the underground workshop or field environment.
About You:
- Recognised Mechanical Trade Certificate (e.g., Fitter and Turner, Mechanical Fitter, or Heavy Diesel Mechanic).
- Demonstrated post-trade experience specialising in industrial pump overhauls and heavy dewatering systems in an underground mining environment.
- Proven hands-on experience rebuilding, repairing, and testing air leg drill machines (e.g., Seco, Boart Longyear, or Atlas Copco platforms).
- WA Driver’s License (Manual C Class)
- Working at Heights certification
- High Risk Work Licence: Forklift (LF) or Dogging/Rigging (highly regarded).
