ABOUT CANNINGTON 

Our Cannington operation is one of the world's largest producers of silver and lead.  Located in northwest Queensland, Cannington boasts an underground mine and processing facility situated approximately 800 kilometres west of Townsville and a concentrate handling facility at the Port of Townsville.

Flights are direct to the onsite airport, and the mine is only 3.5 km from camp—the perfect distance for a sunset walk or run home along a purpose-built walking track. The onsite accommodation includes meal services, sports/gym facilities, swimming pool, music room, and social area.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is a Permanent full-time position, available on an 8:6 or 4:3 roster, FIFO from Brisbane, Townsville/Cairns, or DIDO from Mount Isa, Cloncurry and McKinlay shires.

As the QA/QC Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring welding, structural remediation and protective coating works are completed to project specifications, industry standards and quality requirements, safeguarding asset integrity and supporting continuous improvement across remediation projects.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

• Develop and maintain Inspection and Test Plans for remediation activities
• Conduct audits of quality systems, documentation and work practices
• Review, approve and maintain weld, coating and NDT records
• Manage non-conformances and corrective action outcomes

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

• Quality assurance and quality control within mining, industrial or heavy construction environments
• Interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and technical standards
• Leading contractors and influencing quality performance across site teams
• Producing detailed reports with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy

Qualifications for this position are: 

• Trade qualification in Engineering Fabrication (Boilermaking/Welding)
• Mining Supervisor (G1, G8, G9) qualification, or ability to obtain prior to commencement
• Welding Supervision Qualifications
  • AS 2214 welding in structural steel fabrication supporting compliance with AS/NZS 1554 standards
  • AS 1796 Certificate 10 welding on pressure equipment and other high-risk applications under AS/NZS 1200
  • CSWIP 3.1 / Welding Inspector Certification (or equivalent)
• NACE (AMPP) Level 1 or 2 Coatings Inspection Certification (or equivalent), or ability to obtain prior to commencement
• Current Open Drivers Licence
