About the role:

We are looking for a Quality Assurance Manager to join the APAC Projects delivery team with responsibility to provide guidance and support to a range of capital development projects and studies in the APAC Region.

The primary focus of this role is to guide, support and monitor the project quality aspects across the lifecycle of project delivery (Study phase through to engineering, construction, commissioning, handover) in Projects and Studies in the APAC portfolio.

The role will enhance project engineering delivery during all phases of a project life cycle by:

  • Monitoring and managing Quality Assurance requirements of Engineering Service Providers (ESPs), vendors and construction contractors to ensure the provision of products and services of consistent quality and in compliance with Rio Tinto expectations and all applicable contractual obligations

Reporting to the Engineering Manager – IO Projects and working in a collaborative and exciting environment within our global organisation, you will:

  • Convey and support a culture that promotes quality as a deliverable and key measure of success
  • Promote continuous improvement and assist the Engineering Manager to establish processes and procedures fully compliant with the contractual obligations
  • Identify/ develop procedures as required to ensure Engineering delivery, Vendor/OEM products and Construction quality conform to the desired quality requirements
  • Establish and implement a Project Assurance Schedule template to be used for Projects and Studies
  • Implement and support activities such as quality audits / assessments, technical peer reviews, pass gate reviews and construction readiness reviews
  • Ensure non-conformities and corrective actions are managed and in accordance with the Quality Management Plan
  • Participation in tender evaluations and Contractor document reviews
  • Build a culture where success is celebrated, ideas are shared, and continuous improvement aligned to business priorities is an ongoing focus.

What you’ll bring:

  • Excellent communication skills and experience with Knowledge of Quality systems and practices
  • Knowledge of Project information systems;
  • Build constructive relationships and a capacity to influence others.
  • Experience working with ESP’s in EPCM and/or EPC contracting models
  • Engineering multi-discipline knowledge and understanding
  • Understanding of the mining and metals industry
  • A Batchelor’s degree in Engineering or similar, or high levels of industry experience
