  • Fly In Fly Out (FIFO) via Darwin, and other capital cities will be considered
  • Bus In Bus Out (BIBO) from Darwin or Residential in Jabiru
  • Roster Options: 14:7 Roster for FIFO/BIBO, or Mon to Fri for residential - Ranger Mine
  • Eligibility for a Compressed Working Arrangement (CWA) available to condense 5:2 into 5:2:4:3

We are looking for a Radiation Safety Advisor to support the Ranger Rehabilitation Project in the provision of advice, support and coaching on ERA’s Radiation Management Plan.

This role is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to assist in driving the development of a strong health and safety culture. Working on site in Jabiru and reporting to the Specialist Radiation Safety and Compliance, you will be responsible to:

  • Carry out radiation monitoring of workers and plant and perform radiation contamination clearance checks for items leaving site
  • Ensure that radioactive material is correctly packaged and transported.
  • Facilitate risk assessments
  • Ensure that equipment quality control programs (calibrations, repairs, functionality checks etc.) and sampling are completed and recorded accurately and within deadlines.
  • Providing coaching support to Leaders, Health & Safety Representative and general workforce.
  • Assist with mine closure and rehabilitation closure activities
  • Manage monitoring data in a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) database accurately and within acceptable deadlines.

What you will bring

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • A degree or diploma in Science, Engineering or another related discipline is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in either radiation safety, or in mining or processing industries
  • Proficiency in MS Office and database management
  • An understanding of and commitment to the principles of good scientific practice
  • Strong commitment to health, safety and environment.
  • Ability to work autonomously and take initiative
  • Manual 'C' class drivers licence for manual vehicles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Where you will be working

Energy Resources of Australia Ltd (ERA) is a publicly listed company with Rio Tinto its major shareholder. ERA has mined and produced uranium oxide from its Ranger mine in the beautiful and rugged Alligator Rivers area of the Northern Territory since 1980. The Ranger mine is located on Aboriginal land, and is surrounded by, but separate from Kakadu National Park. 

Mining at Ranger ceased in November 2012 and since then, Ranger has been processing ore from stockpiles.

The role is either Darwin based on a Bus in Bus out arrangement between Ranger Mine and Darwin, or locally based residential in Jabiru. Subsidised housing arrangements for Jabiru residents will be included. 

Fly In Fly Out (FIFO) via Darwin, and other capital cities will also be considered.
