About the Role

Reporting to the Signals Lead in the Rail Engineering GTS team, you will be responsible for providing solutions, expert guidance and technical support in the Railroad department specialising in the field of Rail Signals.

You will also govern Rail Signals standards and technology for Rail across a broad range of areas in addition to ensuring all adds, moves and changes are managed through the change and configuration management process and are commissioned without unplanned safety and business impacts.  

Additional responsibilities will include:

  • Provide technical input on rail signalling issues & ensure system lifecycle requirements for rail signalling;
  • Ensure project-engineering designs meet the design standards;
  • Support firmware upgrades & software for all rail signalling elements & equipment;
  • Ensure engineering solutions are identified to address project, equipment and reliability issues;
  • Provide technical input into planned growth, technology & optimisation projects;
  • Support business capability improvements while ensuring associated risks are managed for Rail;
  • Identify the customers’ requirements, review design specifications, budget estimates & support the project team; and
  • Compliance through scheduled auditing to ensure systems are controlled.

About You

As the successful candidate, you will possess the following:  

  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical, Communications, or Signalling Engineering; or
  • Electrical/Signalling trade background with significant industry experience
  • Demonstrated technical & professional skills within rail signalling;
  • Ability to communicate confidently at all levels & establish a good rapport with a diverse range of people and stakeholders is essential; and
  • C Class driver’s license. 

Location

Residential: In this 5:2 residential role you will be based in the coastal town of Port Hedland, Western Australia. Port Hedland is home to our port and rail operations and is the largest regional centre in North West Australia. The 20,000-strong population enjoys well-established education services, entertainment, shopping and medical facilities. As a residential position you will also be provided with subsidised rental accommodation in addition to power and water subsidies.  

FIFO: We also have a FIFO position available working a 5:2 4:3 roster with flexible work arrangements considered. The outstanding facilities at the FIFO villages include; a fully equipped gym, TV lounge and games rooms. Additionally you will have access to the state of the art aquatic and sporting facilities in the town of Port Hedland. All rooms at the villages have their own en-suite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.
