We are looking for a Rail Track Machines Mechanical Technician to play a key role within the Rail division.
We have an exciting opportunity for a mechanical maintainer to join our 6 Mile facility, located at Dampier on the coast of the Pilbara region of western Australia.
This is a varied role, with a mixture of both workshops based preventative maintenance, and in field breakdown response work across our expansive 1700 kilometres of rail network .You will be trained to maintain a fleet of Mobile Flash Butt Welders, Track Machines and various mobile / auxiliary equipment.

This role is a great opportunity for someone who is keen to work in the Coastal area of the Pilbara working on a Karratha residential 8 days on and 6 days off roster or fly in fly out 8 days on and 6 days off roster from Perth, reporting to the RNM Workshop Supervisor:
Safety will be your highest priority
- Roles and responsibilities dot points
- Conducting scheduled maintenance and breakdown repairs to RTIO rail network assets, including but not limited to; ViaCar MFBW, Plasser & Thuerer Track Machines, Pettibones, Volvo, Bobcat surface mobile equipment and small light engines
- Maintain a high level of safety awareness and comply with all RTIO Company Policies and procedures
- Actively contribute to continuous improvement projects – increasing safety whilst reducing risk & cost
- Utilise SAP to ensure that maintenance tasks are recorded, corrective work identified correctly and completed to the relevant standard / specification
What you’ll Bring

- Relevant trade certificate ( Mobile Plant mechanic)
- Hold a WA C Class drivers license & HR license
- Exposure to Hydraulics, with an ability to interpret hydraulic schematics to assist in fault finding
- Pneumatics experience
- Auto electrical experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude with good fault-finding abilities
- Team player, ability to mentor
- High level of attention to detail
- Continuous improvement mindset

Where you will be working
Our privately owned and operated rail network is an essential part of our integrated production process and services our 16 mines across the Pilbara via 1,800km of track. With depots located at Tom Price, Dampier (7 Mile), West Angelas and Gudai-Darri each train is operated by our state of the art AutoHaul system and comprises of three locomotives and 240 ore cars stretching to approximately 2.7 kilometers in length with over 40 trains operating per day. We are also applying and adapting technology to improve safety and productivity across our rail network and value input from our employees to improve our asset and the way we operate.
