About the role
We’re seeking a skilled and motivated Rail Trainer to join our Rail Operations People Readiness team. This is your opportunity to support the development of a highly capable, safe, and future-ready rail workforce.
As a Rail Trainer, you’ll plan, deliver, and support training for Train Examiners, Locomotive Drivers, and other critical operational roles. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across the business to deliver training aligned with operational needs, and ensure our training materials and procedures remain current and effective.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver and facilitate theory-based training for Train Examiners, Locomotive Drivers, and other operational personnel.
Provide hands-on operational and technical training to build job-ready capability.
Support and develop field-based trainers to ensure consistency and quality in on-the-job learning.
Build, review and update training materials and resources to ensure they remain relevant, practical, and aligned with current operational practices.
Participate in procedure reviews to ensure training content reflects current standards and safety requirements.
Engage with operational leaders and subject matter experts to tailor training solutions to business needs.
What you’ll bring
Mandatory: Certificate IV in Rail Operations (Train Driving).
Preferred: Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
Solid operational experience within the rail industry is essential.
Confident facilitator with excellent coaching and communication skills.
Experience in developing or updating training content and working with operational procedures.
Proven ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders to support operational goals.
