About the Role

One of Australia’s largest mines and a complex minerals processing operation, Olympic Dam, is unique in that we produce Copper, Uranium, Gold and Silver. The local township of Roxby Downs is an active and progressive community offering a variety of modern, well equipped housing, educational, health, sporting, leisure, shopping and cultural facilities.

This position is flexible with options to be based at Olympic Dam Mine Site or Adelaide with routine fortnightly site travel. Working a 5/2 day shift roster with residential or FIFO options available.

Reporting to the Processing and Refinery Reliability Superintendent, Providing assistance to the maintenance teams to ensure performance metrics are achieved and operational processes are continually improved with safety first. Reliability Engineer role will provide specialist advice, execute analysis and benchmarking of the Maintenance function's end-to-end. Ensures optimal Reliability of the Refinery Assets and adherence to maintenance plans and statutory requirements.

In this role you will:

  • Own the mechanical maintenance strategies for the Electrorefinning (ER), Electrowinning (EW) and Gold Room areas, with a focus on maintenance of critical production cranes, processing machines and robotics;
  • Define reliability problems through data, root cause analysis and stakeholder engagements to recommend improvements;
  • Prepares reliable and cost effective action plans that comply with internal/external customer demands to increase machine reliability to avoid failures;
  • Perform analysis of end-to-end work processes, master data, work instructions and organisation design to identify inefficiencies in work execution and close the gaps;
  • Support the team to perform detailed analysis of condition monitoring data, initiate maintenance strategies and changes to mitigate emerging risks;
  • Having ownership of the equipment reliability by supporting the synergies between site teams and functions;
  • The development of front-line capabilities through the adoption and application of best practices to achieve high performance through diagnosis, planning, coaching and execution practices.

About You

We are looking for individuals that possess business knowledge, demonstrate excellence in leadership on a day-to-day basis who are innovative with a bias to action, effectively influence others, and have a strong ability to build capability in others and lead change.

To be successful you will demonstrate the following:

  • Ability to effectively identify opportunities to increase value and eliminate hazards, waste and variability from work processes and practices;
  • Have strong problem-solving skills with a collaborative approach to finding practical solutions;
  • Have tertiary qualification in Mechanical/Electrical/Mechatronics Engineering or Relevant Trade Qualification and Experience;
  • High level skills in MS Office 
  • Ability to understand production/maintenance (systems) data;
  • Ability to engage with all levels of the business from frontline employees to senior management;
  • Has knowledge of condition monitoring techniques;
  • Experience developing and managing Maintenance Strategies in mobile/fixed equipment in Mining and understanding of SAP Master Data 
  • Understanding defect elimination and has experience in conducting RCA’s (root cause analysis) 
  • The ability to work collaboratively with team members and other stakeholders in order to deliver safety, process optimisation, improvements and down time eliminations; advantageous
