We are looking for a Refractory Specialist to safely conduct daily inspections and drive quality installations on all refractory materials, parts and systems of the calcination units at Yarwun Alumina Refinery.

This role is a great opportunity for a safety focused person who is adaptable and driven, seeking the challenge of leading major maintenance works. Reporting to the Superintendent Shutdown Boilers & Calcination, you will:

  • Prepare ITP and Refractive sign off
  • Develop and design scope of works
  • Oversee refractory works and change out
  • Verify test Procedures
  • Build and manage inspection Documentation
  • Ensure Quality Control
  • Pre-Qualify installation technicians

What you will bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Previous experience in installing refractory materials (gunned/casted)
  • Previously followed and developed QA Documentation for installation
  • Deep understanding of inspection techniques, methods and requirements
  • Experience in the mining and refining industry
  • Exposure to SAP and Primavera/Project

It would be beneficial if you had

  • API936 Inspection Ticket
  • Heavy industry shutdown quality control experience
  • Excellent safety attitude and track record
  • Computer literacy – Microsoft Office Suite, including MS project. Computer management systems such as SAP
  • The ability to work as part of a team, inclusive management style, and proactively lead a lean team
  • Solid team member with good interpersonal skills

Where you’ll be working
