Mount Isa Mines are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Refrigeration Mechanic to join the Underground Electrical Assets section at Mount Isa Mines Copper operations. This position is residentially based in Mount Isa on an even time 7 on 7 off Day Shift only roster.

The Role
We are looking for a qualified Refrigeration Technician with a strong involvement in all aspects of maintenance, including routine maintenance, repairs, and servicing to join us in the Underground Electrical Assets section at Mount Isa Mines Copper Operations.

Reporting to the Supervisor - MICO Electrical Assets, you will have the ability to make decisions, work to meet deadlines and exceptional communication skills. The roster for this role, 7 on 7 off day shift only.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Installation , repair and maintain refrigeration systems
• Operational inspections of the Underground Ventilation Assets
• Responding to plant breakdowns with the ability to prioritise to effectively manage downtime to a minimum
• Demonstrating a high standard of professional workmanship and discretionary effort

The successful candidate will have the following skillset and attributes:

• Safety as a core belief with a solution seeking attitude
• Queensland restricted electrical workers licence
• Refrigeration Handling Licence
• Australian manual drivers’ licence
• Previous experience in heavy industry/mining refrigeration systems is an advantage
• Experience with installation and maintenance of package refrigeration systems, split systems and water coolers , and ice machines.
• Ability to thrive on new challenges, responsibilities and be willing to acquire new skill
• Sound understanding of workplace OH&S
