We are seeking an experienced and capable Reliability & Asset Management Specialist to join our team at Yarrabee Mine, near Blackwater, QLD (two hours’ drive west of Rockhampton).

Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Reliability & Planning Superintendent, the successful candidate will bring substantial experience in mining and infrastructure asset management, maintenance strategy development, and reliability engineering, together with demonstrated capability to embed disciplined asset management practices across the operation. Assisting in the development, review, and optimisation of maintenance strategies for site’s assets using reliability principles, ensuring alignment with required asset performance, risk, and lifecycle objectives. Drive reliability improvement through RCFA, defect elimination, condition monitoring, performance analysis and parts strategy for critical assets. Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing asset performance, reducing waste, and lowering cost. Promote a strong safety culture through visible leadership in the field, regular engagement with teams, and reinforcement of compliance with legislative requirements and company standards, including support for incident investigations.
Skills and Experience
- Relevant qualifications - Engineering Degree or Diploma, or a strong trade background, together with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in reliability, asset management, or maintenance engineering within a mining environment.
- Strong understanding of asset management, maintenance strategy, and reliability improvement.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability
- Demonstrated experience in the application of RCM, FMEA, RCFA, and defect elimination practices.
- Sound knowledge of fixed coal handling plants, HME mining fleets, and the interrelationship between operational and maintenance processes.
- Deep understanding of computerised maintenance management systems, with SAP experience essential.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
- Experience in budgeting, cost management, and resource planning within a maintenance or reliability function.
- Sound understanding of risk management, safety systems, and Queensland Coal Mining Legislation.
- Effective planning and organising skills with the ability to identify, lead and implement simultaneous improvement initiatives.
- Strong document management and technical reporting capability.
