About the role

Finding better ways to provide the materials the world needs.

We are currently seeking expressions of interest from Reliability Engineers for upcoming roles for our Asset Management & Engineering Services (AMES) teams within Rio Tinto Iron Ore (RTIO). Working with the latest in technology and innovation, you will use defect elimination and reliability engineering processes to improve asset performance, predominantly for the heavy mobile and ancillary equipment.

These positions may be based at various sites throughout our Pilbara mining operations, working an 8/6 or 5/2/4/3 FIFO from Perth dependant on site requirements. Applicants must be residing in or willing to permanently relocate to Western Australia.

Reporting to the Senior Engineer you will:

  • Lead and support investigations into asset failures and performance, including root cause analysis (RCA)
  • Leverage equipment performance data to successfully identify and implement reliability improvement initiatives
  • Recommend and implement tactics designed to support high levels of asset safety, reliability, and integrity
  • Provide technical engineering support to the site maintenance execution teams
  • Actively contribute to asset strategy by developing asset lifecycle plans and zero-based budgets for mobile equipment
  • Execute both technical and process-based projects derived to improve the performance of the fleet
  • Monitor and analyse the performance of our assets and review primary/ secondary maintenance tasks to improve asset reliability and cost
  • Demonstrate the Rio Tinto values of Care, Courage and Curiosity

What you’ll bring

You are someone who thrives on a challenge and is willing to be creative when solving technical problems. With a natural ability to relate to a diverse range of stakeholders, you will know how to effectively collaborate with others to drive successful outcomes. Whilst an understanding of reliability-based principles and processes such as root cause analysis (RCA) and defect elimination will be highly regarded, of more importance will be your passion for learning and your enthusiasm for driving improvements and innovation!

A ‘C’ class manual driver’s licence will be required, as will tertiary qualifications in engineering or another related discipline. Previous experience with SAP and other maintenance and reliability software will be advantageous.

Where you will be working
