About the Role

Reporting to the Superintendent Reliability, within the Mining Equipment Maintenance team, the focus of the MEM Reliability Specialist will include the following:

  • Drives business improvement through the measurement of BHP's performance
  • Prepares and review weekly cost reports for material variances against budget
  • Reviews YTD results against full year budget and provide commentary for discussion around remedial action required to meet budgetary parameters
  • Manages costs to budget and be accountable for regular forecasting and rectifying variances
  • Drives continuous improvement/WAVE initiatives
  • Drives capital projects working with stakeholders
  • Develops budgets and forecasts through the use of equipment life cycle modelling and based on the preventative and corrective maintenance work strategies in 1SAP
  • Reviews and document fiscal performance for full financial year for submission and explanation as to variances
  • Analyses performance metrics and benchmark performance across the site and other BHP businesses
  • Executes defect elimination rhythms and routines, ensuring triggered events are reviewed, investigated, actions implemented and monitored for effectiveness
  • Strives to achieve 100% safety, 100% customer value and 0% waste

In addition, you will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Self-reliant contributor with previous experience in mining or heavy industry maintenance environment with demonstrated ability in cost control is a must
  • Experience in Mining Equipment fleet (Liebherr, Caterpillar & EPIROC) preferred
  • Experience in reliability maintenance programs will be beneficial (Asset Performance Management)
  • Proficiency in 1SAP is a must and VBA/SAC/WAVE/AMT/PRIME experience is preferred but not essential
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages (Word, Power Point, Excel, One Note, Share Point) in particular, high level expertise in Microsoft excel
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skill
  • The ability to influential change and drive Best Practice
  • The ability to manage and prioritise workload

Location

Newman Operations – FIFO or Residential

This role is based on a residential basis in Newman or fly-in fly-out from Perth.

You will be working at ‘Newman Operations’ mine site, which at more than five kilometres long and nearly 1.5 kilometres wide is the biggest single-pit open-cut iron ore mine in the world. The 7,000 strong population of Newman enjoys well-established town facilities including a newly revitalised town centre and sporting facilities. As a gateway to the Karijini National Park, you will be in close proximity to spectacular gorges, water courses and stunningly unique landscapes.
