Reliability Specialist - Water Management

Work Location: Perth Fortescue Centre. Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

Roster: Monday to Friday

Role overview:

The primary purpose of the Specialist Reliability Engineer role is to identify, report, and support management of Fortescue’s Chichester Hub Water Management asset risks that could adversely affect plant or business operations. 

The role supports the Chichester Water Management operations team to provide:

  • Defect Elimination – expertise in problem solving using root cause analysis techniques
  • Technical support – to operations and project teams
  • Operational Readiness support – contributing to smooth hand over between projects and operations
  • Optimisation of asset management strategies to support FMG Operational Plan
  • Compliance to FMG Engineering standards

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintain a strong Site presence to support sustainable stakeholder engagement
  • Develop and deliver long term reliability improvement projects aimed at optimising reliability of Water Management assets
  • Support capital planning process to enable economic replacement of assets
  • Develop optimised equipment life cycle maintenance strategies and cost of ownership models.
  • Lead failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) and root cause analysis (RCA) to identify failure modes posing excessive risk to operations. Plan and implement maintenance strategy changes to address where required.
  • Provide technical support to Water Management and Asset Management teams

Qualification and Experience: 

  • Highly experienced with water management assets (maintenance and/or project roles) in an operational capacity within the Resources industry.
  • Previous Asset Management and Reliability Engineering experience preferred.
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical)
  • Ideally, well-developed interpersonal skills and proven ability to connect, work with and influence key stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
