Resource Estimation Modelling Geologist

Work Location: Perth - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.

Roster: Monday to Friday

An opportunity currently exists for a Resource Estimation Modelling Geologist to join our Perth team. This position is responsible for the delivery of high-quality resource models for use by the short-term mine planning and mine geology teams.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Proven commitment to safety
  • Ensure data quality through robust data validation
  • Generate geological interpretations suitable for resource modelling
  • Deliver resource models on time and fit for use
  • Engage with mine geology, resource definition and mine planning teams to ensure that high-quality models are delivered prior to mining
  • Contribute to a team culture of continuous improvement aligned with Fortescue's values

Qualifications and skills required:

  • 4-7 years industry experience (including mine geology, geological modelling, resource estimation experience preferable)
  • Relevant experience working on iron ore deposits desirable (hematite deposit experience desirable, magnetite and other bulk commodities advantageous)
  • Working knowledge of geological modelling and estimation software (Vulcan preferred)
  • Degree in Geology (or closely related discipline)
  • Highly motivated with good communication skills and an attention to detail
  • Be expected to conduct themselves in accordance with Fortescue’s Code of Conduct and Values at all times
