Cadia Valley Operations is located in Central Western New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional township of Orange and a convenient three hours from the capital city of Sydney. Employees reside in varied accommodation options in and around the district of Orange with the surrounding area’s occupied by wineries, stone fruit orchards, farming and national parks.

Who we’re looking for
Reporting to the Superintendent – Risk & Assurance, the Risk Advisor will provide operational risk management support services to Cadia Valley Operations.
The Risk Advisor will provide day to day support and driving of work under the site risk management systems and processes through maintenance of site risk registers covering all facets of risk for nominated operational areas, including safety, process, environment, or project risk.
In addition, you will compile data and generate reports, as required on risk profile, risk metrics and action status as well as facilitate embedment and adherence to the Newcrest Risk Management policy and standard.
Other key responsibilities include:
- Oversight of operational risk management (identification, assessment, implementation of controls)
- Deliver operational risk assessment facilitation using the Newcrest Operational Risk Management (NORM) tool.
- Provide advice, guidance and support to operations in relation to the management of risks, including coaching and workshop facilitation.
- Advise on risk controls and improvements to reduce risk associated with site operations
- Act as Safety Ambassador integrating Newsafe into the way we deliver risk management support to all aspects of operations and planning at site and driving a culture of zero harm and Safe-Quality outcomes.
- Leading by example, promoting a culture of speaking up, holding each other and our contractors to account, with ongoing focus on pro-active early-stage risk evaluation
- Ensure emerging risks and changes in ongoing risks are captured and escalated accordingly.
- Deliver training and coaching on operational risk assessment and processes
- Promote disciplined risk management practices across the site
The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated career in the mining industry and a passion to pursue a long-term career in the risk field.
You will also possess the following:
- Diploma in an industry focussed formal qualification.
- Previous exposure to risk in a similar role
- Mining industry recognised qualification in risk management – highly regarded
- Proven experience in a mining, oil & gas or energy industry
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Please note: This is a 5/2 or 9 days per fortnight residential role in Orange, NSW.
