ABOUT THE ROLE

The Risk and Settlements Analyst is responsible for the development of analytical tools and processes to support the financial risk management and settlement of FFI’s power trading activities. Working closely with other members of the Power Portfolio team and FFI’s finance team, the role is responsible for developing the capability to capture/settle trades and measure, monitor and report FFI’s exposure in accordance with the risk management framework.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to the development, implementation and ongoing enhancement of FFI’s risk management framework for power trading activities in the NEM
  • Define the necessary data, systems and business processes to enable deal capture and settlements for FFI’s power trading activities in the NEM and leading their implementation from a business user perspective
  • Define the necessary data, systems and business process to enable reconciliation and settlement with AEMO, network providers and meter data providers.
  • Develop, implement and maintain appropriate risk analysis tools to calculate, monitor and report FFI’s financial exposures arising from its trading activities in accordance with the risk management framework
  • Develop, implement and maintain appropriate tools to manage FFI’s compliance with the Renewable Energy Target for the NEM activities
  • Working closely with other members of the Power Portfolio team to assist with, advise on and monitor the development and execution of trading strategies in the context of risk management

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • 5+ years of experience in energy and financial risk management roles or similar.
  • Experience with Australia’s National Electricity Market (NEM) is mandatory.
  • Experience with other energy or commodity markets will be considered favourably.
  • Knowledge of the National Electricity Rules (NER) and all relevant and associated legislation such as the Renewable Energy Electricity Act
  • Knowledge of OTC and exchange traded products including an understanding of the ISDA legal framework and execution of trading arrangements
  • Understanding of the Corporations Act and Competition and Consumer Act
  • Experience in implementing or upgrading energy trading software is desirable
