About the Role

The Contracts & Compliance Coordinator will be based onsite at Peak Downs Mine within the Maintenance Department. The Risk & Compliance Coordinator will provide technical expertise and coaching leaders in the identification and mitigation of Risks across the Maintenance team whilst ensuring Compliance to the relevant Legislation, BHP Standards and Our Requirements. The role is reporting directly to the PDM Maintenance Contracts Superintendent. A site-based roster with flexible work options will be considered.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Build stakeholder understanding of risk management processes and activities
  • Facilitate, develop and complete risk assessment documentation in conjunction with stakeholders
  • Coordinate development of Safe Work Instructions (SWI’s) for regular work activities
  • Develop and implement practices to improve risk management processes and activities
  • Provide support to stakeholders to navigate internal risk management systems, requirements and expectations
  • Support completion of Critical Control Effectiveness Tests and Critical Control Verification where required
  • Provide recommendations on risk management improvements through analysis and reporting
  • Auditing of risk management systems
  • Administer and manage compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements for Maintenance
  • Identify and priorities improvements to our Safety Health Management System (SHMS) within the Maintenance team
  • Coach, influence and provide technical support to the compliance systems on site that govern legislative work practises
  • Prepare and participate in audits, and provide guidance on compliance related matters Event management and investigation facilitation and participation

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in management of risk, assurance and compliance with relevant tertiary qualifications;
  • Previous experience in navigating Safety and Health Management Systems along with an understanding of the Queensland Mining Act and Regulations;
  • Previous supervisory experience is desirable, with S123 and G2 in Qld qualifications; 
  • Trade qualified (not essential) & broad Mine Site Maintenance knowledge;
  • Demonstrated experience working autonomously in a fast-paced environment managing competing priorities;
  • Strong engaging and influencing skills with the ability to coach leaders in the field;
  • High-level attention to detail, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Professional writing and verbal communication skills in addition to active listening skills;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook) and SAP experience is preferred
