We are actively seeking the talents of an innovative and engaging leader to join the Greater Hope Downs Operational Readiness team in the capacity of a Specialist – Road Trains. Reporting to the OR Superintendent – Mining and NPI ,
You will be part of the Operational Readiness team that goes beyond to successfully integrate a safe, high performing asset that exceeds business expectations, contributing to a safely operable, maintainable and reliable project result.
To be successful in this role you will be extremely collaborative and influential leader with outstanding negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills. You are team orientated and results focused with a demonstrated track record of coaching others to achieve results.
Reporting to the Operational Readiness Superintendent - Mining and NPI you will:
- Represent a dedicated resource to coordinate with various internal RTIO stakeholders and provide input to study, project and EPCM teams
- Develop User Requirement Specification’s, headcount profiles, Operational Readiness plans and Risk management portfolios.
- Contribute to tender and evaluation processes for the award of various scopes of work
- Communicate and implement the operational readiness execution plan, focused on the seamless integration of the suite of major projects across Greater Hope Downs including input & review of detailed designs, commissioning and ramp-up, and hand-over to operations documentation
- Be responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders who are essential to operate successfully once the project has been handed over.
- Provide oversight to ensure compliance by all parties to appropriate and agreed standards.
- Be a role model safety leadership by striving for zero harm and demonstrating the Rio Tinto safety culture, especially through improved safety in design.
- Develop procedures, KPI’s and productivity to ensure loaders and road train fleet meet production requirements.
- Provide input into stockpile layout and management for operation of loaders, side tipping road trains and ensure segregation of heavy mining equipment ME’s and road trains.
- Develop benchmarking and productivity measurement, analysis and improvement.
- Provide input into the infrastructure design and equipment requirements to successfully manage and service a loader and road train fleet of trucks and side tipping trailers.
- Evolve safety and operating procedures for the safe operation of a road train fleet.
- Create operational procedures and scheduling to minimise bottlenecks and maximise road train utilisation.
- Defining maintenance cycles and spare holdings
- Oversee workshop and tyre procedure development.
- Improve maintenance plans and supply chain to support mechanical availability of the road trains and associated fleet.
- Provide input into workshop and tyre bay equipment requirements.
What you’ll bring
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in setting up and managing the operation of High GCM road trains in a mine haulage environment.
- Degree Qualifications in (Engineering, Project Management, Science)
- A current and valid C Class manual drivers’ licence
- Knowledge of all aspects of mining operations and supporting processes
- Knowledge of project management and project site activities
- 10+ years mining or mining related experience
- Exposure to risk management and business improvement methodologies
- Well-developed people influencing, engagement and communication skills, especially with mine operation teams
- Capability to write conclusive reports and create documents presenting requirements and developed plans, strategies and approaches
- Previous experience in Operational Readiness will be viewed favourably
