Together with our frontline teams, we’re deploying the Rio Tinto Safe Production System (RTSPS) that brings together the best practices from every corner of Rio Tinto and other industries. Our aim is to improve how we operate our assets, manage performance and support our people because we know there is a lot of potential in how we simplify our work, stabilize our operations, collaborate and share best practices across our global business.
Join our function as a Safe Production System (SPS) Coach, and be part of this exciting journey, which is one of the most significant transformation programs in our recent history. You will play a fundamental role in supporting the RTSPS deployment teams through all stages of the roll-out before transitioning our sites to business as usual. Once a deployment leaves site, the enduring behaviours that will demonstrate success are a continuous improvement mindset and supportive leadership which empowers team members.
The Safe Production System Coach is responsible for supporting the deployment & sustainability of the Rio Tinto SPS across operations. At different stages of the deployment, this role partners closely with various stakeholders to manage the SPS transformation and transition to site teams. Upskilling leaders, functional partners and Operational Excellence teams is a fundamental component of the role for embedding of SPS capability across the business.

Reporting to the General Manager Delivery, you will:
- Support the development and delivery of the Rio Tinto Safe Production System
- Facilitate cultural transformation activities for the deployment, including diagnostics and development of cultural improvement plans with the site leadership team
- Build leadership capabilities to lead in a SPS environment, enhancing personal effectiveness and supporting teams in the application of SPS practices and ways of working.
- Partner with the respective Deployment Lead and team to ensure integration of approaches (safety, operational excellence, mindsets and behaviors, change management) and critical thinking are applied to planning the implementation of practices
- Provide Practice coaching and capability development support to embed SPS intent and value expectations.
- Monitor Practice maturity, SPS performance, site mindsets and behaviours and adjust coaching to achieve the sustainable value impact.
- Contribute to the refinement of the RTSPS deployment approach and practice development

Where you’ll be working
This role is based in Perth, Western Australia and requires frequent travel to the Pilbara Iron Ore sites.
