Health and Safety Advisor – Construction
Work Location: Fortescue’s Chichester hub is located on the traditional lands of the Palyku and Nyiyaparli peoples.
Roster: 8D/6R
Role overview:
Reporting to the HSES Superintendent Shared Services at Chichester Hub, you will be responsible for assisting with the development, implementation and coaching of Safety Management Systems to ensure continual improvement in a dynamic mining operations environment
Key responsibilities include:
- Engage with Leaders to provide advice in achieving the objectives of the strategic plan for HSES performance
- Ensure Leaders and team members are provided with coaching and mentoring to achieve confidence and competence in safety compliance, assurance activities and are proactive in identifying and managing risks
- Provide assistance and guidance in the investigation of incidents
- Be actively involved in the Fortescue Contractor Management audit process
- Assist in the preparation and presentation of Health and Safety initiatives and promotional material
- Liaise with line management, consultants and government bodies
- Assist operations with Fortescue's Incident Management System (BMS)
- Actively participate in the implementation of the Fortescue Major Hazard Program
Qualifications and Experience:
- Demonstrated substantial Safety Advisor experience in mining construction
- Relevant Occupational Health & Safety qualifications
- Demonstrated high motivation and output under minimal supervision
- Safety Auditing qualification (Lead Auditor) and an awareness of WHS legislation
- Demonstrated experience in contractor management
- Demonstrated experience in ICAM investigations
- Experience in procedural (safety) development
- Data analysis, trending & reporting
- Current "C" Class Western Australian Drivers Licence or equivalent
