Health and Safety Specialist

Work Location: Iron Bridge - Fortescue’s Iron Bridge magnetite mine is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.

Roster: 8D/6R FIFO ex Perth 

Reporting to the Superintendent Health and Safety, you will be responsible for assisting with the improvement, implementation, and planning of Safety Management Systems within Fortescue’s Iron Bridge Operations. The role involves working on continual improvement and effective implementation of project work in a dynamic mining operation.

Integral part to this role is the coordination of hygiene programmes for the site in conjunction with general health and safety duties. In consultation with key stakeholders, you will develop, implement and improve Health and Safety programmes and systems, coach and mentor leaders and peers, ensure risk management processes are in place and complete quality data analysis to understand current trending and focus areas.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Foster strong relationships with our Contracting partners and ensure alignment with Fortescue Health and Safety systems
  • Coordination of Health and Hygiene Programmes for the site
  • Assist in the development of supporting material for the effective implementation of health and safety systems
  • Provide support and guidance in the investigation of incidents as required
  • Assist with the maintaining accurate records and utilisation of Fortescue's Business Management System (BMS) for recording Health and Safety data

To be considered, the successful candidate will have:

  • Relevant Occupational Health & Safety and risk management experience and qualifications
  • Health and/or Hygiene experience and qualifications
  • Experience in incident investigation, in particular ICAM
  • Previous experience in a safety or operational role on a mine site would be highly regarded
  • Experience in data analysis, trending & reporting. Contractor management and project management would be highly regarded
