About the Role
Based at our Mt Arthur Coal Operation on a Monday to Friday roster this is a residential role. Reporting to the Superintendent Statutory Compliance & Site Systems, the Safety Management Systems Specialist role is responsible for performing technical tasks and ensuring compliance of the site’s Safety Management System (SMS) within the legislative and business requirements.
This includes:
- Act as a site champion for the site’s SMS – Ensure business & legal compliance for SMS documents and processes
- Design, implement, maintain & continuously improve the site SMS and its associated sub processes
- Ensure quality control, audit & revision plans for the site SMS
- Support the Mine Engineering Manager (MEM) with risk assurance auditors, inspectors and regulators with regard to the site SMS
- Manage statutory and non-statutory MEM appointments
- Facilitate / Coordinate SMS risk assessments including planning, scoping & consultation
About You
As the successful candidate you will possess the following:
- You are a driven safety systems and compliance professional who enjoys developing initiatives that influence & support the continuous development and improvement of management systems, compliance and assurance related programs
- Good leadership skills & the ability to foster a teamwork atmosphere
- Good communication skills both written and verbal
- Proven commitment to safety
- Formal training / qualification in Health & Safety Management and/or Risk Management
- Solid knowledge & understanding of WHS Legislation applied to open cut mines, SMS & risk systems.
