About the Role

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Olympic Dam HSE team as a Safety Specialist.  Reporting to the Safety Superintendent, this role involves collaborating with leaders across the business to provide coaching, technical expertise and advice on various aspects of safety and risk management.

This role will be offered as a 5/2/4/3 FIFO from Adelaide or 5/2 residential at Roxby Downs. Flexible work options will be considered.

In this role, you will:

  • Analyse safety data and information sources to identify emerging safety trends and recommend safety improvement initiatives
  • Proactively reach out to site personnel to coach individuals in site safety systems
  • Actively attend various safety routines across site
  • Conduct training sessions across various safety systems
  • Establish and lead an investigation quality working group to maintain capability of investigation facilitators
  • Monitor a Safety email inbox and respond to support operational needs
  • Lead a safety field leadership improvement program and promote hazard awareness and identification.
  • Support Olympic Dam’s Health and Safety Representative process.

About You

You will be a self-motivated professional with a solid record or accomplishment of achieving results through influence, coaching and mentoring.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Previous experience in a safety role
  • A tertiary qualification, or equivalent industry experience managing safety
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to influence at multiple levels in an organisation
  • Coaching and mentoring skills with a genuine desire to help people, achieve outcomes and support continuous improvement
  • Experience with facilitating safety incident investigations
  • Sound data analytical skills, and
  • A current C class motor licence or equivalent Australian state motor vehicle licence.
