About the Role

We are currently seeking applications for a Safety Specialist to join the Yandi HSE Business Partnering Team on a permanent basis.

Reporting to the HSE Superintendent, through execution of core safety processes you will support the delivery of safety outcomes across a dynamic and high performing operation. The successful candidate will be proactive and engaging with a focus on partnering with operational leaders and create healthy tension to drive continuous improvement in safety outcomes and best practice. We are looking for a candidate that want to focus on delivering HSE excellence while also building their skills in leading teams.

In this role, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Drive continuous improvement and best practice in safety performance through ongoing engagement with site leaders,
  • Field verifications of safety systems with operational leaders while coaching leaders on quality and demonstrating expected standards
  • Participate in and facilitate HSE investigations and provide process guidance, coaching and quality review.
  • Through review of site and industry HSE events, encourage a strong culture of learning and embedment of safety improvements.
  • Partnering with the operation in the delivery of Safety improvement initiatives, aligned to the Integrated Operations Plan.
  • Participate in risk assessments and provide quality reviews.
  • Support / coach the development of effective work management tools to achieve positive safety outcomes; and
  • Support accurate and transparent HSE data reporting and elements of the HSE governance program.

About You

This role will suit a highly capable team player who is motivated to collaborate with site and HSE teams to ensure that everyone goes home safe every day to do the things they love.

You will be a confident, self-motivated professional with at least 5 years’ experience HSE within the mining industries.  You will also be confident with your communication and engagement skills and you will have a solid record of achieving results through influence, coaching and mentoring.

You may have formal Risk Management process or a related field, however it will be your attitude, character and a passion for safety that sets you apart from the crowd.

Additionally, this role would suit someone who is keen to develop and step-up in a HSE Leadership role.  You will also have:

  • Tertiary HSE related qualification
  • Experience in facilitating incident investigations (ICAM, TapRoot or Essential factors)
