About the Role

This is an exciting and challenging role where you will be accountable for the management, improvement and governance of the Safety and Health Management System and associated risks. Reporting to the Superintendent Asset Systems, you will be responsible for providing technical support to BMA Sites to assist in governing work practices and risk control processes.

Being the focal point, you will liase with various groups (such as Risk and Governance, Sites Systems, and Training & Development groups) to plan for and facilitate any required activities across BMA sites. You will facilitate and assist in investigating action close out strategies for site MRE’s. You will deliver measurable outcomes as part of a continuous improvement process, to bridge any identified gaps, facilitate change and embed new processes.

Based on site, at our Central Queensland Office Peak Downs, this role is a Monday to Friday roster, however flexible work arrangements are on offer for further discussion.

In this role, you will:

  • Maintain and develop key documents with the Safety and Health Management System (SHMS);
  • Facilitate risk assessments and reviews;
  • Assist Sites and key stakeholders to improve risk management and safety on sites; and
  • Assist with audits and provide guidance on safety and/or risk management related matters.

About You

To be successful in this role, it is desirable that you will have experience in Coal Mining Production Operations (Pre-Strip/Dragline), with a strong working knowledge of the intent of Qld Coal Health & Safety Act and Regulations and risk management principles.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence health, safety & training outcomes;
  • Passion for maintaining and improving risk and safety management systems;
  • Understanding of regulatory bodies, government and risk management through risk assessments/execution and leading the risk management process;
  • Strong computer skills and high level of attention to detail;
  • Strong Microsoft Suite Comprehension; and
  • Ability to organise and manage
  • competing demands and priorities.

You will also be personable, proactive and professional with people at all levels of an organisation.
