About The Role
Our Underground Operations at Narrabri has an exciting opening available for a Safety and Training Advisor. This role is accountable for coordinating, maintaining and enhancing safety and training activities in line with the Narrabri Mine Management Plans.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with developing, maintaining and monitoring safety systems and safety culture onsite.
- Source training providers, determine cost effective training and coordinate training by external providers including inductions
- Develop training packages to develop employee competencies and areas for development
- Participate in auditing programs and conduct regular audits to assess compliance with site standards
- Conduct regular inspections, task observations and risk assessments and provide guidance to improve safety practices
- Prepare and deliver safety programs, training courses and programs including assessment documentation
- Assist in the implementation and management of workplace rehabilitation and act in the role of Return-to-Work Coordinator including liaison with insurers and medical practitioners, development of return-to-work plans, and facilitation of a speedy return of injured workers to pre-injury duties.
- Make sure the application of the system for monitoring contractors is regularly reviewed for compliance to the site standard.
What You’ll Bring
- Relevant work experience in a similar environment
- Relevant Occupational Health and Safety qualifications
- Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment
- Current first aid certificate and ability to act as the Occupational First Aid Officer on site
- Ability to be on call one week a month
