About the Role
Reporting to the Lead Safeworking Rail Safety Management Systems, you will be a part of a team of Safeworking Specialists who support rail safety compliance, regulator engagement and reporting and driving safety improvements across BHPIO Rail.
This role will see you provide leadership and functional expertise in a broad range of areas and build a cohesive group through deep, foundational team development.
This opportunity offers an 8 days on 6 days off roster either residential or FIFO from Perth. In this role you will:
- Demonstrate knowledge and substantial experience of the practical application of rail safety legislation, compliance to BHPIO Rail Rules and Procedures, Work Instructions, Operating Instructions and Operating Notices;
- Administer and manage compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements;
- Complete auditing of notifiable occurrences and the Rail Safety Management Plan to ensure compliance and alignment with RSNL;
- Review and action outstanding risk mitigation tasks stemming from historical ONRSR Site audits and internal/external investigations;
- Facilitate and participate in forums to plan, review, risk assess and endorse safeworking improvements and management of change (such as Safeworking Committee, Configuraration Control Board, RSAA);
- Support safeworking project work stemming from the Rail Transformation Project and the Rail Engineering team including attending risk workshops, design reviews and operational readiness requirements specific to the safeworking team;
- Review data to understand current performance and opportunities for process improvement and verification within the Rail Safety Management Systems;
- Analysing trends for safeworking events which will enable the implementation of key initiatives to reduce safeworking events;
- Participate in rail investigations to deliver high quality outcomes and corrective actions;
- Engaging stakeholders and conducting field based inspections to ensure compliance with BHPIO Rail Rules and Procedures.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Substantial experience of the practical application of rail safety legislation, compliance to Rail Rules, Work Instructions, Operating Instructions and Operating Notices.
- The ability to administer and manage compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements which includes Rail Safety National Law (WA) Act and Regulations.
- A passion for safety and commitment to your own wellbeing and wellbeing of those around you will be second to none;
- A strong understanding of Safeworking requirements
As well:
- You are able to work independently and can manage multiple tasks in a dynamic work environment;
- By nature you are at ease engaging and influencing people at all levels of the organisation and are able to build productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders with effective communication and consultation to maintain the safety of the rail network;
- Have strong communication skills (written, oral and presentation);
Qualifications/Experience required:
- National Motor Vehicle Drivers License;
- Strong understanding of Safeworking requirements;
- Ability to prioritise and meet legislative reporting deadlines;
- Management Systems Auditor (preferable).
