About the Role The Operations Supervisor role covers all tasks to support the safe and efficient operation of the mine site, with a focus on Care and Maintenance/Operational work and compliance.  The role is a critical aspect to the success of Saraji, now and into the future.

Reporting to the Superintendent Operations Saraji South the Operations Supervisor is an integral part of our dynamic team responsible for directing, controlling and monitoring work to ensure safety and efficiency. Your strong analytical and problem solving skills will allow you to think on your feet and identify improvement and optimisation initiatives across the site.

This role is based at Saraji South Mine, Central Queensland, and is being offered roster working 8:6.

Specific responsibilities:

•    Ensure conformance with the BHP Charter, the BHP Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations; •    An overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development; •    Assist with developing the work schedule to ensure completion of all routine and breakdown work in a timely manner; •    Assist with work planning to ensure materials and equipment are available for completion of scheduled work; •    Assist with development of site budgets and 5 Year Plan to ensure upcoming routine and project work is suitably identified and resourced; •    Participate in Field Leadership activities to ensure adherence to safety procedures •    Leading and developing a dynamic crew  •    Assess risk and implementing controls to safely execute work. 

About You

The successful candidate will ideally possess maintenance and or operational experience within an open cut coalmine.  Previous supervision experience and working within a planning and scheduling environment will be advantageous.  Strong computer and analytical skills and the ability to offer solutions in a fast paced and high-pressure environment will ensure success in this role.

Working within a team environment, your strong communication and interpersonal skills will be essential in allowing you to build relationships across departments and to communicate with disciplines at all levels.

Qualifications, skills, knowledge and desired experience required:

•    Trade qualification and or Mine Site operational skills; •    Supervisor competencies required under Queensland mining legislation and BMA procedures; •    Previous supervisory experience is desirable;  •    Computer literacy, along with experience in computer based maintenance management (SAP preferred);  •    Work at Heights and Confined Space competencies are desirable.
